The Weimar and Schulenburg volunteer fire departments were paged to 13105 Seydler Road near Weimar on Sunday afternoon for a possible structure fire.
The air-conditioning unit in the residence of Melissa Cabrera reportedly caught fire from a tree limb striking a wire that was connected to it, said Weimar VFD Chief Roy Ulrich. Shawn Fisbeck, a member of the Weimar VFD, was early to the scene and extinguished the fire relatively easily, according to Ulrich. Four trucks and approximately 25 members of the WVFD arrived on scene as well, added Ulrich.
The house is located in Fayette County just north of Texas Tool Traders but, because of its proximity to the fire, the Weimar VFD was first to the scene, said Ulrich. The Schulenburg VFD was also called but, since the fire turned out to be minor and the situation was clearly under control, the trucks were sent back, said Schulenburg VFD Chief Dennis Lebeda.
No one was injured and minimal damage occurred to the residence.
